This project is developed as a collaboration between NOVA IMS and Banco de Portugal. More specifically, it is built on top of previous research done by Filipa Lima, Flávio Pinheiro, João Falcão Silva and Pedro Matos. In this case the project is developed as master thesis work of Bojan Stavrikj, with the advisory and guidance of Flávio Pinheiro and João Falcão Silva. The goal was to expand on their previous research, by expanding the scope of analysis to include portfolio investment, as well as a combination of the CDIS and CPIS datasets. Ultimately, communicating the results through this interactive web application.
Bojan Stavrikj bojsnstavrik@gmail.com has his Bachelor's (BSc) degree in Economics and Business at Erasmus University Rotterdam (2018). He thas worked as a Junior Product Control Analyst at Citibank in Budapest acquiring knowledge and experience in Finance. After which he started his masters degree in Data Science and Advanced Analytics in Lisbon, majoring in Business Analytics at NOVA IMS. He developed this product as part of his thesis under supervision and guidance of Flávio L. Pinheiro and João Falcão Silva. He is currently working at BNP Paribas as a data engineer.
Flávio L. Pinheiro (FLP) fpinheiro@isegi.unl.pt is a professor of Data Science at NOVA IMS since 2018, where he arrived after a two year a Postdoctoral appointment at the MIT Media Lab (USA). His work explores the role of social networks in the diffusion of opinions, ideas, innovations, and behaviors and how the network structure of socio-economic systems constrains the effectiveness of strategic decision-making. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Universidade do Minho (2016) and an MSc (2011) and BSc (2009) from Faculde de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa.
João Falcão Silva jmfsilva@bportugal.pt holds a Ph.D in Economics – International Economics - from ISEG, Lisbon School of Economics & Management - Universidade de Lisboa, a Master’s degree in Public Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from NOVA School of Business and Economics, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. He works also at the Banco de Portugal in Statistics Department as Head of Unit of the Financial Account, in the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Division. In addition, he teaches economic courses at NOVA School of Business and Economics and a post-graduation course on Central Banking Statistics at NOVA Information Management School.
